Post-Typography Manifesto
digital design, typography, hand-lettering
Students were asked to design a digital experience around a manifesto of their choice. I chose the "Post Typography Manifesto" by Nolen Strals and Bruce Willen. The manifesto focuses on breaking the rules set by modernist typography and proclaims that type shouldn't be a "crystal goblet" as Beatrice Warde put it, but should be an expressive tool. I designed nine expressive typographic posters highlighting quotes from the manifesto. Type in the posters was made with a range of materials including glitter, colored pencil, clear tape, crayons, markers, ink, needles, ribbon, felt and soda caps.
