Hemlines From Skylines: Architectural Fashion, a collaboration between SVA and Madison Avenue BID in 2019, was exhibited along Madison Avenue from East 61st to East 79th streets during the fall fashion season. The exhibition was shown at 75 Rockefeller Plaza during the holiday season and later moved to the Hugh. More than 15 sculptural dresses inspired by New York's iconic architecture, were created by SVA's BFA Design and BFA Interior Design students.
My two dresses were inspired by the Chrysler Building and the Rose Main Reading Room of the New York Public Library. The Chrysler Building dress is made entirely from metal sheets, while the NYPL dress features a wood dress with an ornate chandelier skirt referencing the iconic light fixtures of the Rose Main Reading Room.
